Delicately beautiful Murano handmade smaller genie bottle decanter in red and clear glass, with spiralled design using the ‘a cane’ method. It has a tiny red glass flame-shaped stopper cased in clear glass. The bottle's graceful shape is smoothly ribbed to the touch, and very finely made. Reminiscent of the work of studio Fratelli Toso, though possibly simpler and less fussy.

Stickered to neck with gold and silver foil rounded shield shape ’Venetian Art Glass’ label, known to be used by British importer George Hardy, active in the 1950’s importing Scandinavian and Italian glass.
Stickered to base with small circular gold and silver generic ’Made in Italy’ paper label.

Lovely provenance in that I purchased it from a young man in England, whose grandfather bought this for his grandmother in the 1950's to commemorate their honeymoon in Venice.

Looks beautiful displayed alone, in groups with other bottles, or with mixed displays of coloured glass - see photos.

Bottle is in perfect condition, no chips, cracks or damage, clean and bright. The stopper has a long shallow 'shaved' chip to the end part of the shaft that goes inside the bottle, which is not visible when stopper is in place. There is no cork or plastic insulation on the stopper (I have wrapped it with clear plastic film for display purposes and to keep it tight in the bottle neck).

Picture 9 shows bottle on the right hand side of the picture, next to a standard sized red hobnail genie bottle to illustrate size. It is beautifully small and delicate.
