No chips or damage, pink paint and snowflakes are still shiny and bright. A few pinpricks of pink colour loss, but barely noticeable. Overall it is in excellent condition.

No chips or damage, black paint is matt, no paint loss, but black appears very slightly worn (“greyer”) in places. All my black dishes in this range are matt and slightly worn from handling.

Colour and pattern glossy and bright, one paint chip to one short edge rim, and area of paint chip to one long edge rim. See photos.

A few tiny pinpricks and scratches of colour loss, mainly to the side surface as it goes under the dish, so not on view, plus a couple of tiny nicks to one top corner that you can feel rather than see, but overall excellent condition. Colour and pattern shiny and bright.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

James A. Jobling’s British Pyrex Snowflake range was launched in 1958 in the UK in a variety of colours, using an already successful Corning pattern from the USA.*

These rectangular Spacesaver Snowflake casserole dishes were produced in two depths:
Deep Oblong Casserole, ref 2162 / 541, 3.5pt capacity (L29cm/11.375” x W17cm/6.75” x D6.5cm/2.5”)
Shallow Oblong Casserole, ref 2161 / 540, 2.5pt capacity (L29cm/11.375” x W17cm/6.75” x D4.5cm/1.75”)

I am a keen collector of these dishes, as you will see from the photographs - they display and stack so beautifully, and the range of colours is so perfectly 50’s! Occasionally I have duplicates to sell, here is my current selection on offer. Do check back regularly as stock changes often. Condition is described in detail for each piece - there are occasional slight flaws which I have been scrupulous in outlining and photographing, but these dishes are still perfect for everyday use and/or display, though an amazing 70 years old! The yellow and black are particularly great for Halloween displays.

All dishes bear the JAJ Pyrex crown backstamp.
