Finel Arabia Mushroom enamel on cast iron large bowl - mid-century Scandinavian design perfection!
Off-white enamel with line drawings of stylised mushrooms in a wide border all around the rim - this is the large size bowl.
Award-winning shape designed in the 1950’s by Kaj Franck. Mushroom illustration by Esteri Tomula.
Made in Finland for the US export market, scarce and hard to source in Europe. Finel was a brand name of Finnish company Wärtsilä, and Arabia was a ceramics subsidiary of the same organisation.

Interior extremely clean, some small edge chips and wear, a few very fine scratches to pattern, and some general shelfwear to the base, see photos. Suitable for everyday use or display.
Marked to base “FINEL, MADE IN FINLAND”
Kaj Gabriel Franck (9 November 1911 in Vyborg, Grand Duchy of Finland – 26 September 1989 Santorini, Greece) was one of the leading figures of Finnish design and an influential figure in design and applied arts between 1940–1980.
Esteri Tomula (October 31, 1920 in Helsinki, Finland – 1998) was a designer who worked at the Arabia ceramics factory in Helsinki, Finland from 1947-1984. She is known for her decorative work often inspired by Finland's flora.
