Very Rare Shelley 'Lilac' Fine Bone China Tea Plates - Seconds Ware Pattern No. 2221 - features Floral Pattern of Pink and Blue Lilac Sprays with Butterflies on Art Deco Style Plate with Squared Shape, Scalloped Edge and Green Trim.
Plates measure 16cm/6.25” square. There are 2 remaining, selling individually.
Highly collectable, this pattern appeared on several Shelley cup shapes - Cambridge, Eve, Oxford, Princess, Queen Anne, Regent, Tall Dainty & York. This style of fancy square plate would be appropriate for all of these shapes except Tall Dainty.
Seconds ware pattern No 2221 marked on reverse of all plates.
Backstamp includes a circled No.2 to designate seconds ware.
Green Shelley logo shield indicates production from 1938-1966
Excellent condition, appear unused. As these are technically seconds, there are tiny manufacturing flaws visible on a few plates - small glaze pinpricks or inclusions, or 1mm of green trim missing in places.
