A selection of stunning Hostess Tableware dinner service pieces in the rare 1960s abstract psychedelic Kashmir pattern, by British ceramics design icon John Russell.
Each piece features a transfer-printed bold colourful design of stylised blue flowers with green and yellow scrollwork and an Indian-influenced central paisley-style motif, with black outlining on glossy white glazed earthenware.
Hostess was a brand of British Anchor Potteries Ltd during the 1960s. Russell was a prolific designer in mid-century Britain. His company, John Russell Design, sold his illustrative work to several potteries and lithographic companies, and he is notable for his many and varied designs for Midwinter Pottery, amongst others.

All pieces in excellent vintage condition - no chips, cracks or repairs. The pieces appear to be unused, and are bright and shiny, however as they are some 50 years old, there is age-related crazing and tiny areas of storage wear to the pattern in places, but nothing that would detract from its beauty or function. All pieces have a Hostess Tableware Kashmir backstamp. As with all vintage transferware, I recommend handwashing in mild detergent.
