Incredible early-60s Brexton picnic hamper for 4 in red lockable hard case. Unbelievably complete example includes iconic Barker Bros Fiesta china, linen, Tupperware, flasks, cutlery, cruets and original key!
Perfect for festivals, camping and caravanning, this picnic set is the most authentically complete I've ever seen. The stylish rigid red lockable case with white plastic handle contains the following:
1 x original key to case
4 x Barker Bros Fiesta pattern china sets inc cups, saucers & small plates
4 x cutlery sets inc knives, forks, teaspoons
4 x orange fabric napkins in retro pattern
1 x melamine salt shaker
1 x melamine pepper shaker
2 x plastic containers for liquids with screw-on lids
2 x Tupperware-type cylindrical containers with lids
2 x Tupperware-type large rectangular containers with lids, with Brexton logo
2 x Thermos flasks
All pieces in good vintage condition. The red case has some scuffs and scratches, and the metal retainer to the handle is rather rusty, but the whole thing is very handsome overall. In line with its age, the china has some crazing but no chips, cracks or repairs. Two of the teaspoons have some tarnish to the reverse, which could be cleaned off. The fabric napkins are untouched since the 60s and should be laundered before use. I haven't opened the pepper and salt but these will need careful cleaning as it does seem that there is still solidified vintage pepper and salt inside!
British made vintage item, Brexton mark inside. All china pieces have Barker Bros backstamp. Flasks are Thermos brand.
