Rare and sought-after Doric & Pansy pattern Depression Glass covered butter dish in the ultramarine colourway, manufactured by the Jeannette Glass Co, Pennsylvania in 1937-8.

A very hard-to-find piece, with pretty mould-etched design of alternating pansy flowers and scrollwork-decorated squares in deep teal-coloured pressed glass, this attractive circular vintage butter dish comes complete with elegant lid.

Excellent vintage condition, the lid with its gorgeous octagonal faceted knob handle is perfect. There is a tiny 0.5mm fleabite to the underside of the dish rim, which I have shown in picture 7. It does not show from above, but can be felt with fingertip. There is a curved manufacturing crease to the exterior of the dish wall, as shown in picture 8. The inside base of the dish has a small slightly rough 2mm patch towards one edge, which could be due to use or manufacturing technique. None of these issues affect display of the butter dish, but I like to be as accurate as humanly possible in my descriptions!

The dish is just under 6" (15cm) in diameter, and approx. 4.5" (11cm) tall to top of lid.

Would make a fantastic addition to any Depression Glass collection or vintage Art Deco tea table. Could also be used as a covered sugar bowl, dressing table or trinket box. The colour would be fabulous for Christmas. I have some other pieces in the same pattern available, see last picture. Please note that these are all adult-size tea set pieces, not the children's toy size made by the same company. These items have definitely been used and loved, but I imagine saved for best as still in remarkable condition for their age some 80 years later!
