Vintage Ceramic Rolling Pin 1950s Atomic Pattern with Green Wooden Handles made by Nutbrown of England
Vintage Ceramic Rolling Pin 1950s Atomic Pattern with Green Wooden Handles made by Nutbrown of England
Spectacularly 50s atomic ceramic rolling pin, made in England by Nutbrown.
The rolling pin has a cream coloured body with great transfer design in black, yellow & brown, with hand painted red dot highlights.
Handles are wooden, painted spring green with two silver pinstripes on each. One end is marked in green lettering "Nutbrown MADE IN ENGLAND", with a silver reference number "2869". Comes complete with green hanging cord should you wish to display on the wall.
Would look fantastic in any retro vintage kitchen - a real slice of baking history. Looks great with my vintage Pyrex and fifties china.
Imperial dimensions: Total length 17.5", length of ceramic section 9.3", diameter of ceramic section 2.75".
Metric dimensions: Total length 44cm, length of ceramic section 23.5cm, diameter of ceramic section 7cm.
The rolling pin is in good vintage condition with no chips or damage, but the glaze is very crazed, presumably from years of temperature extremes as it would have been chilled before use to keep pastry cool when it was rolled. This item is therefore not recommended for practical use, but is still perfect for display on a wall or rack.
Thomas M. Nutbrown started manufacturing kitchenware in 1927 from his factory on Walker Street, Blackpool, England. He registered the company in 1932. Since then, Nutbrown has been producing lovingly crafted kitchen utensils, whose colourful handles with the 2 silver hoops have become iconic in British kitchens. They still make rolling pins today!
