Stunning orange textile collage by Scottish artist Sallie Coverly Moodie, entitled "Checkerboard" and created in 1979.
Mixed media textile collage of an ochre circle on vivid orange ground, with multiple appliqué elements, including wool, braid, felt, beads, plastics and metallics in shades of gold, silver, bronze, orange, yellow and ochre.
Behind glass in original black and gold square wooden frame, with title, date and artist's details to reverse. Collage in perfect condition, colours bright and true. Frame shows slight wear to edges, consistent with age.
Sallie Coverly Moodie, later Harkness, was an artist and teacher working in Glasgow, known for her detailed embroidered textiles. Her decorative embroidered panels of Sun, Moon, Earth and Sea are displayed at the Pollockshields Church of Scotland in Glasgow.
