Jessie Tait's most iconic 1950s tribal design for Midwinter Pottery - Zambesi on the Fashion Shape - seen here in a rare complete tea set with elegant wider style teacups in excellent condition. Hand painted black on white zebra stripes are complimented by red handle detail.
Set comprises:
Large teapot (measures 16.5cm / 6.5" to top of handle)
Wider style teacup x 6 (5.5cm/ 2.125" tall, 9.5cm/ 3.75" diameter)
Tea saucer x 6 (14.4cm / 5.625" across)
Large open sugar bowl (6.3cm / 2.5" tall, 13.8cm / 5.5" across)
Milk jug (10.5cm / 4.25" tall)
Each piece bears a printed Midwinter backstamp, except for teacups which have an impressed mark. No chips, cracks or repairs. One teacup has some fine crazing which is barely noticeable.
