Kathie Winkle 'Romany' 30-piece Dinner Service for Broadhurst designed in 1975, featuring Stylised Flowers Hand-Coloured in Peachy Orange/Russet and Green.
A rarely found complete perfect service, in unused condition, with no chips, cracks, fading or crazing. Glazes are glossy and bright. Cheerful colourful folk-art style flower power pattern by British mid-century ceramic design icon Kathie Winkle. Plates, bowls and saucers all bear the Broadhurst printed backstamp.
Set comprises:
6 x 9.6" dinner plates
6 x 3" diameter teacups
6 x 5.5" tea saucers
6 x 6.75" tea plates
6 x 6" cereal or dessert bowls
The process used by Broadhurst at the time, was for the black outline pattern to be applied to the unglazed body of the pottery piece with simple rubber stamps, and then filled in with handpainted colours as appropriate, before glazing, giving the distinctive style so prized by collectors now.
